• Utilization of salt affected soils.
• Development of measures to check soil salinization.
• To develop reclamation technology for salt-affected soils.
• Screening of salt resistant/tolerant crops.
• Advisory service to the farmers.

Achievements

• Developed technology for the use of brackish ground water and reclamation of salt-affected soils
• Agronomic practices and sustainable crop rotations for salt-affected soils.
• A fine rice variety “Shaheen Basmati” has been evolved, a high yielding rice variety PB-95 is being proposed for approval.
• Three promising salt tolerant lines of wheat are in pipe line.
• Future lines of work
• Modification/adaptability of evolved technologies of salt-affected soils.
• Testing of salt tolerance of various crops.
