BRIEF DESCRIPTION AND SCOPE

The mandate of Field Wing of Agriculture Department is to provide engineering services to the farmers and other stack holders in the areas including land development, well drilling, soil and water conservation and research & development. For the purpose of providing services to the farming community the department is maintaining a fleet of 553 bulldozers, 29 power drilling rigs, 12 electric resistivity meters, 214 hand boring plants, 22 power winches and 10 air compressors. Beside these, the department also provides technical and supervisory services to the barani districts for execution of soil and water conservation projects. The department also undertakes a well conceived R&D program to develop and promote appropriate and low cost farm mechanization technologies. The Department also provides technical support to the farmers, farm machinery manufacturers and other stake holders.
