The importance of potato crop and its scope in Pakistan, Potato Research Institute Sahiwal was established in January, 2009 for the up left of agriculture in Sahiwal, Okara, pakpattan, Kasur and Sialkot potato is growing on in area of 142.0 (000 ha) & its production is 2387.5 (000 tons) in Pakistan. Punjab share 75% in area and 94% in production. The Institute focusing on the development of high yielding, good quality and frost tolerant varieties in potato.
