Pulses Research Institute, Faisalabad is situated at Jhang Road, Faisalabad. It was a part of ‘Cereal Section’ in 1938. It was separated as ‘Pulses Section’ in 1971 and then upgraded as ‘Directorate’ in 1982.

  •     Pulses Research Sub-Station Sahowali Distt. Sialkot
  •     Pulses Research Sub-Station, Farooqabad, Distt. Sheikhupura
   Research work on following Rabi and Kharif pulses is being done in Pulses Research Institute:

RABI / WINTER
  •     CHICKPEA / GRAM / CHANA (Cicer arietinum L)
            A: DESI
            B: KABULI
  •     LENTIL / MASOOR (Lens culinaris Medik)
  •     DRY PEAS / MATTAR (Pisum Sativum L)

KHARIF / SUMMAR

  •     MUNG / GREEN GRAM[Vigna radiata (L) Wilczek]
  •     MASH /BLACK GRAM /URDBEAN [Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper]
  •     COWPEAS / LOBIA (Vigna sinensis)
  •     RICE BEANS (Vigna umbellata)

As Food:

             o   Essential amino acids
             o   Vitamins and minerals
  •     Increase dietary value ofcereals
As Field Crops:
  •     Grow on marginal lands
  •     Require less water compared to other crops
