Functions

  •         Collection, maintenance and evaluation of germplasm of pulse crops from local and exotic sources.
  •         Improvement of pulses through development of desirable varieties of Gram, Lentil, Mung, Mash, Cowpeas and Drypeas possessing high yield potential, resistance/tolerance to biotic and a-biotic stresses, earliness in maturity and good cooking quality.
  •         Identification of high yielding and short duration varieties of pigeonpea, and beans.
  •         Establishment of package of production technology.
  •         Promotion of pulses production. 
  •         Production of prebasic and basic seed of pulse crops.
