Development of better OILSEED Varieties/Hybrids to enhance the oilseed production (2006-11)
Budget: 30.265 million
Objectives
  • Direct increase in per acre yield of the farmer by incorporation of high quality hybrid seed of sunflower, canola, sesame and castor varieties and their modern/improved production technology.
  • Increase in awareness and reduction in problems of oilseed growers by interaction of farmer, researcher and extension experts.
  • Sustainable dissemination /flow of high quality of new improved by interaction of farmer.
  • Explore new areas/packets and incorporation of oilseed crops in thee areas.

Production of Jojoba through Research and Extension (2006 - 2010)
Budget: 17.20759 million
Objectives

Direct increase in per acre yield of the farmer by incorporation of high quality jojoba seed and modern/improved production technology. Increase in awareness and reduction in problems of jojoba growers by interaction of farmer, researcher and extension experts. Explore new areas/pockets and incorporation of jojoba crop in these areas
Achievements
  • All physical targets were achieved according to the work plan of PC-I
  • Latest implementation status up to (31-01-2010) = 45.73 %

Strengthening of research facilities at MMRI, Sahiwal (2008 - 2011)
Budget: 54.676 million
Targets/Achievements
Target Achievement
Collection of tolerant germplasm developed/released by different Breeders Different agencies are being approached for the collection of germplasm. Five inbred lines have been collected from CIMMYT
Collection of germplasm from remote maize growing areas where modern seeds have yet not reached Collection of germplasm from remote areas is in progress
Screening of germplasm wild collections against different stresses under artificial conditions Pending due to delay in installation of controlled environment chamber
Initiation of breeding program for different stresses In progress
Rearing of Shoot Borer Larvae Not started due to construction of Lab
Preparation of inoculation media for stalk rot etc Stalk rot media prepared, inoculation of inbred line was done at proper stage. Plants showing tolerant/resistant were marked for further study
Screening of germplasm against different stresses Material has sown and will be screened accordingly
Purchase of Machinery & Equipments Purchase of leaf area mater completed. Contracts for the purchase for NIR, awarded. Fabrication of farm machinery sheds has been completed, bill for payments not received. Advertised in the press for Pre-qualification of contractors for fabrication of controlled environment chamber. NOC for the purchase of vehicles have been received and are being advertised by the Purchase Cell for their purchase
Civil work 100% construction work of boundary wall completed. Plastering work for laboratory is in progress, masonry for office building additional alteration completed up to roof level. Replacement of sewerage lines is in progress
