COTTON JASSID
Amrasca devastans (Jassidae : Homoptera)

IDENTIFICATION

- Adults active, winged and triangular in shape
- Nymph wingless
- Greenish yellow in colour
- Black spots present on the top of each forewing
- Two black spots on vertex of head


LIFE HISTORY
Egg : 4 – 11 days
Nymph: 7 – 21 days
Adult: 2 – 5 days
Generations: 11 per year
Active period: Throughout the year

DAMAGE
Sucks cell sap, damage known as hopper burn

Attacked leaves crinkle, shedding of immature bolls and leaves

Middle aged leaves are most affected

Edges of the damaged leaves turn down wards

Clean cultivation
