Activities

Pesticide Division
• To provide Pesticide quality control analytical services in the Punjab under Agricultural Pesticide Ordinance, 1971.
• To provide advisory services to pesticide companies, govt. departments and allied agencies regarding pesticide use and quality control.
• To determine the storage stability of various pesticides.
• To study the pesticide residues on fruits, vegetables and crops.
• Evaluation of new pesticides for their registration.
• Evaluation of some seed dressing insecticides against sucking insect pests of cotton crop & their effect on plant vigor
• Efficacy of some insecticides on cotton.
• Response of some new cotton varieties to insect pest complex
• Screening of insecticides against Diamond Back Moth on cauliflower.

Pest Management Division
• To develop biological control measures identification, collection and large scale rearing of alternate host of natural enemies.
• Augmentations of parasites /predators against sugarcane pests in the field.

Pest Control Training Division
• To impart plant protection training especially IPM (Integrated Pest Management) of different crops, vegetables and orchards to the staff of Extension Wing of Agriculture Department for onward transmission to the farmers.
• Control of insect pests of mango by stem injection method.
• Control of insect pests of cotton by non-toxic method.
• To find out the causal organism of mango malformation and its effective control.
• To monitor the training of extension staff arranged for the farmers at village level.
• To participate in anti-cotton and rice pest campaigns.
