- Evolution of variety tolerant to diseases, pests lodging and drought conditions and possessing, wider adaptability to various growing conditions.
Cane production technology
- Improved cultivation practices for all growing conditions.

Evolution of high sugar and cane yield varieties resistant to diseases, pests, lodging, frost and tolerant to stress.
Screening of sugarcane varieties against major diseases and pests will be undertaken.
To evolve harvesting schedule for peak sugar recoveries periodic juice analysis will be done.
Analysis of cane juice to calculate post harvest losses of cane and sugar yield for different cane varieties.
To evolve cane production technology, experiment on different aspects will be done.
Experiments on ratooning ability of different sugarcane varieties will be conducted.
