Cotton Sticks Management (2008 - 2010)
Budget: Rs. 12.517 million

 Objectives

The overall objectives of the proposed project is to manage removal and shredding of cotton sticks for control of cotton insects, incorporation of cotton sticks into the soil to improve organic matter and early vacation of fields for next crop. The major objectives are:-

•  To introduce cotton sticks management technology in the cotton area for its adaptation.
• Demonstration of locally developed/purchased cotton sticks puller shredders, cotton root digger and compost shredder to small, medium and larger farmers for adaptation and multiplication.
• Training to farmers/cotton growers regarding new cotton management machinery for its operation and maintenance.
• To help farmers/cotton growers for insect destruction, early field vacation for wheat sowing and addition of origins matter into the soil.
• To enhance crop yield and overall production of cotton and wheat crop.

Physical Work

Farm Mechnization for Food Security (2009 - 2011)
Budget: Rs. 690.00 million

• To provide agricultural machines / implements to the small scale farms at 50% subsidized rates
• Total no. of 10521 implements (i.e. chisel plough, M.B Plough, Rotavator, disc harrow, coulter drill, rota drill, ground nut drill, ground nut digger and reaper) shall be provided to the farmers of Punjab province within a period of three years.
• The machines/impellents are identified on the basis of different zone i.e cotton, wheat, rice wheat, mixed and barani.
• Machines/implements to be provided to the Districts in three phases by taking 13 districts 1^st year and 11 districts 2^nd year and 11 districts 3^rd year.
• The machines/implements per districts are proposed to distribute on Markaz level.
• Year-wise financial phasing is as under:-

• The scheme was approved by PDWP on 13-09-2008 & finally cleared on 22-11-2008
• During 2008-09, Rs. 120.898 million (Rs. 120.739 million under grant No. PC-22036 and Rs. Rs. 0.250 million under grant PC-12038) were released. The project was implemented in 13 districts of the Punjab and from the allocated 3653 implements, 3095 implements were booked and 3082 implements were delivered to the farmers. Out of total expenditure of Rs. 99.432 million, Rs. 97.809 million was disbursed to the manufactures.
• During current year, scheme is under implementation in remaining 22 districts instead of 11 districts each during the years 2009-2010 and 2010-11. An amount of Rs. 222.425 million has been provided against which Rs. 84.530 million have been utilized. It is expected that funds about Rs.220 million shall be utilized up to 30-06-2010. Out of 6868 implements, 6064 have been allotted, 5756 have been booked and 2479 delivered.
